Feedback on husky tours and accommodation

Friendly Alaskan huskies.

“My husband and I just returned from our trip to Finland. We had an amazing time but our most memorable experience was the 3 day husky safari with Guesthouse Husky. Juha, led us, one other couple, and our teams of 6 sled dogs each on a 3 day 160 km husky safari. We stayed overnight on a frozen lake in a cozy log cabin. Lunches were cooked over an open fire and were delicious. We learned how to make dog food, and got our drinking water from a hole in the ice of the frozen lake. The scenery was breathtaking. By the end of the trip we had developed a very close relationship with all of our dogs and it was hard to say goodbye. What made it a little easier was meeting the tiny puppies (future sled dogs) at the guesthouse. I cannot recommend this trip enough. Thank you Juha and Guesthouse for an unforgettable experience!”

“We have spend few day in Guesthouse husky for new year and we are delighted.
Charming place, where we can bond with other customers, the house is well thought out for this. Isolated in the forest, it made it even more unusual. The dinners and breakfast are excellents. The husky safari is a magical experience. It is quite possible to walk to IVALO and it was very pleasant (about 1:30 one way).
We recommend this place.
Thank you for the very plaisant stay and your hospitality.”

“We (my daughter and me) had participated in the 3-day husky tour in January 02 -03.2017. It was amazing!
i like outdoor activities and this one was the best. Fresh air, beautiful landscapes, friendly dogs… It was a little bit frosty (-35C :-)), but we survived :-). Can you imagine how nice to have a lunch break in the winter forest and eat hot lohikeitto. Before the trip people said that the days in January are very short. But it doesn’t matter, we had the unique possibility to observe sunrise and then sunset without daytime :-). Sauna in the evening was excellent, I still remember the pleasant smell of wood. Have you ever watched Aurora lights? If not, then you should definitely participate in a such winter tour! The night sky is colored with different light, light curtains move, change shapes… Our guide Juha is a man who can make everything. And he is a very good cook!
I would recommend this tour to those who like outdoor activities, like nature, like dogs. Huskies are so nice!”

“Words can’t express how much we love this place!
If you want a taste of wilderness, Guesthouse Husky ticks all the checkboxes and comes with additional comfort. Our cosy log cabin was the perfect place to stay amidst the laplands and we had the perfect room that had a view of the husky puppies’ kernels! It was awesome waking up to the sound of huskies howling ;) Staying in the guesthouse also meant we could play with the huskies anytime we wanted – perfect for dog lovers! Do note to stopover at a supermarket to get some groceries as you’re your own for lunch but you can pay an additional fee for dinner, which is also highly recommended for an authentic Finnish meal. We had cream Reindeer stew, which I found was the best way to enjoy the meat. The guesthouse also has its own traditional Finnish smoke sauna, to top off the Finnish experience. We were on our honeymoon and the guesthouse also gave us a small bottle of champagne, which was a sweet touch :)

We went for a 1 hour husky sledding self-drive tour and it was exhilarating. Riding through the snow-capped wilderness was definitely a sight that will linger in our memories.”

Feedback on husky tours and accommodation.

“Our stay at Guesthouse Husky was very enjoyable. We loved interacting with the dogs and had so much fun doing the dog sledding tour with Outi’s son Konsta. There is some noise with the dogs but we weren’t bothered by it – in fact watching the northern lights and hearing the huskies howl occasionally added to the atmosphere. The guesthouse is away from town so it is possible to see the northern lights standing outside the guesthouse (which we did). We enjoyed the home style cooking that Outi, Minna and Lea provided and there is a small basic kitchen where you can prepare your own food, snacks if you want. We also enjoyed just walking through the birch forests and the peace and serenity.”

“Amazing experience
We did the 2.5 hour husky trip today and it was an amazing experience! The route you take is beautiful and you could tell the dogs absolutely love what they do! Guesthouse Husky are a brilliant company and they even helped us when our car got stuck in the snow which we had to abandon so they moved it for us whilst we were on the tour. If you’re going to do a husky experience whilst in Finland this is the place to do it :)”

Unforgettable husky tour in Finland.

“We have just left after 4 nights. This place is great. A bit out of town so having a car was definitely good, but the guesthouse is in a great location, the dogs are beautiful, accommodation is cozy, clean and the owner Outi was very helpful. We had lovely chats with
Lea too, as she was at breakfast most mornings. We loved the kitchen so we could prepare meals occasionally, but we did have meals cooked by Outi twice and would definitely recommend taking this option. We did the 2.5 hour husky ride and had a fantastic time.
If we had to make any suggestion, it would be that another communal area would be good, such as maybe a lounge or Kota, so people can sit and enjoy the ambiance. But even without this, this place is amazing
Definitely recommend staying here and will stay again if we venture back to Ivalo.
Thanks to all at guesthouse!”

“Memorable Stay..Love this Guesthouse

When you go to Ivalo, don’t stay in a conventional hotel. You should stay at Guesthouse Husky. It is like a log cabin in the wilderness. It is a cosy 3 story lodge with very comfortable rooms, cosy with great wifi. We arranged with the Guesthouse for a taxi pick up at the airport and asked the driver to drop us at a supermarket first before going to the guesthouse. Just pay a little more. If you don’t drive, it is expensive to get transport to go to the supermarket.

They provided breakfast and dinner was additional and optional. We chose to have dinner there in the guesthouse every night and we are glad we did. We loved it. It is a must try – Finnish/Lapland food freshly cooked. Delicious ! The dinners were one of our son’s look forward moments here.

Lunch is on your own but they have provided a kitchenette with a fridge, stove, microwave oven, dish washer, plates, pots etc. You can bring you own food to cook here.

Whatsmore this is a husky farm so you can book your Husky safari with them and also see and play with the dogs any time during your stay here. Their Huski safari was excellent, we took the 4 hr one with lunch provided..cooked over an open stove in a teepee. A wonderful experience.

We also did the northern lights hunting and snow mobiling and the companies we booked with picked us from the guesthouse.

A very memorable and wonderful stay here made special by the owner and staff at Husky Guesrhouse, thank you!”

Amazing husky tour in Lapland Finland.

“AMAZING
We did the 2.5 hour husky ride and it was amazing. The dog sledding was incredible, and you get to ride through the most beautiful tracks. We got to see lots of beautiful scenery, play and pat puppies and the wonderful sled dogs (so friendly!), and go really fast on the sleds (but always felt safe), and overall had the best day.

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to our guides! They were absolutely amazing. They were so lovely and chatted to us about Lapland, the dogs, etc. They never rushed us and seemed to genuinely enjoy taking us on the tour and chatting about the dogs and their lives in Lapland. Also, they let us play with the dogs as much as we wanted, and never rushed us out, which we really appreciated.

Overall, the tour was also great value, and lasted way longer than the 2.5 hours (I think we were there for at least 4 hours)

I can’t recommend this highly enough! Please do yourself a favour and book in.”

“Authentic Finnish hospitality
About 15 mins taxi from Ivalo airport for 40 Euros. stayed for 3 nights. Rooms were cosy and warm. Food was excellent with a variety of Finnish meals and good value. Unless you have a car I recommend eating in. Small kitchen for diy food, tea coffee etc. Lookout for the bear! The Huskys were the stars. You must do a trip. 4 hours was great fun. 2 to a sledge and 6 huskys. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a fab lunch. All in all a great stay to see the real Finland and saw Northern lights on the last night. Take a good camera to see all the colours.”
